GEOFF TATE "INSANIA" ????
QUEENSRźCHE frontman Geoff Tate has teamed up with Walla Walla, Washington-based 3 Rivers Winery to create a new red wine signature blend called Geoff Tate Insania.
Insania — a Latin word meaning insanity, irrationality, madness — will likely be unveiled in the fall and initially available to the general public by next year.
Tate — who has been deeply involved in the development of this special blend with 3 Rivers Winery — states that "Insania is a creative project similar to the process of making music. Wine has been an important part of my life and the creation of Insania is yet another avenue to express my creativity and give my fans something more they can enjoy. With a limited production, I hope everyone who loves wine will join me in this wonderful new venture."
Winemaker Holly Turner of 3 Rivers Winery is equally excited about the new offering. "Geoff Tate simply rocks and so does his love of wine," says Turner. "We share this passion for wine and have put together a powerful blend that represents Geoff. We feel so fortunate to be working with such a well-respected artist that is also a friend."
Geoff Tate and 3 Rivers Winery hope to launch Insania at a concert event slated for September 20, 2008 at the winery. The show will mark Tate's first solo performance in six years.
Tate will play music from his solo album as well as some QUEENSRźCHE songs, and will be "plugged in."
Tickets are $100 per person and include a picnic dinner and logo wineglass. Gates open at 4:00 p.m., dinner is available from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Geoff Tate will take the stage at 5:00 p.m. There are only 250 tickets available and an early sell-out is expected. Tickets are available by calling the winery at 509-526-9463.
With mutual respect for the artistry of wine and music, the bond between Tate and 3 Rivers was instantaneous.
"Here's to fine wine and rock and roll," comments Tate. "Cheers!"

20th ANNIVERSARY OF MINDCRIME
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Queensr˙che's Operation:Mindcrime album, Blistering.com will be running a multi-part retrospective detailing the album's creation titled, "I Remember Now: The 20th Anniversary of Operation:Mindcrime."
Compiled by noted Queensr˙che historian Christa Titus, the series will feature interviews with members involved in the album's creation, plus perspectives from two other relevant sources. With topics ranging from guitarist Michael Wilton's initial displeasure with the album's mix and singer Geoff Tate's assessment of how TV helped sell "Mindcrime," to bassist Eddie Jackson's take on dealing with new-found success and drummer Scott Rockenfield's intimate details of the band's rehearsal space, "I Remember Now: The 20th Anniversary of Operation: Mindcrime" is one of the first complete and comprehensive looks at one of rock's most intriguing concept albums and the players involved in it.
The first installment of Blistering's Queensr˙che's Mindcrime retrospective will be posted on Tuesday, May 6th and will feature guitarist Michael Wilton.

If you are a fan club member zip on over to QUEENSRźCHE.com and check out the new video clip. At first glance it looks like two minutes of horsing around while Scott plays the drums, but it's and exclusive first look of the guys in the studio beginning the recording process for the new album. Could that be Jason Slater and Kelly Gray in the video too? The new album, as yet untitled, is due to be released in early 2009, so hopefully this will be the first of many such updates.

QUEENSRźCHE QUILT CHARITY RAFFLE
The NCSE would like to thank everyone who bought tickets for the quilt raffle. Because of your generosity over $9,000 was raised to feed hungry families across the country. Big thanks to those who helped sell raffle tickets and support this wonderful cause. LaraR˙cher and JenQ2K of the NCSE donated their time, materials and skills to make this beautiful quilt, so HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to them for their successful efforts.
And CONGRATULATIONS to Pat Kibby, from New Jersey for being the LUCKY WINNER! Pat shared her thoughts with us on winning the quilt:
"Thanks to everyone at NorCal Sanctuary for your generosity to charity, and your beautiful work on this quilt. It is beautiful and totally cool at the same time. The details are amazing and not lost on me, as I seem to find something new to look at every time I check it out,.
At the time I bought the raffle tickets (I bought 2 in NJ), I never expected to actually win. It was really because I thought the fund drive was a great idea going to a great cause.
Actually winning was entirely unexpected and makes the whole thing even better.
I have been a Queensr˙che fan since the 80's (I am sure many have the same story), but I tell everyone I know that I have been to hundreds of concerts for many artists throughout the years, my all time favorite show was a Queensr˙che show at the Nassau Coliseum in NY. The band was so great that night, and the acoustics were amazing. It was really just one of those nights where everything came together and kicked butt!
One thing you can tell everyone there that was involved....this will never be on eBay, as it will be displayed proudly forever on the wall of my new home. Once it is up, I will send you over a photo of the final display, so you can be sure it found its way into a good and loving home where it will be admired by us and our many 'metal' friends."
